Earthraging was born into popular terminology many moons ago when Haley Read’s older brother, Travis Read, and some of his Earth-loving UC Berkeley buddies used the verb to describe enjoying a variety of outdoor activities.
Fast forward to 2014 when Haley, Clare and fellow Earthraging with English co-founder, Brady Valashinas, rekindled the verb and #earthraging Instagram trend.
The choice to name this swim program Earthraging with English is representative of how unifying the term is: All humans, regardless of nationality, socio-economic status, education or skill set, should enjoy and respect what it means to earthrage. Having fun with Mother Earth while spreading global respect.
In a practical sense, this means being active outside and NEVER using plastic water bottles when you can use a reusable water bottle, and always recycling bottles when you must use them; leaving no trace (trash) wherever you go; being conscious of your carbon footprint, especially those of us living in developed counties, and choosing to maintain the smallest footprint possible (driving less, opting for hybrids or human-powered transport, green-certifying your living space, forgoing meat products, buying carbon offsets when flying, supporting climate change legislation, etc.).
Spread the unwavering love of Mother Earth by loving her back. #earthraging
